Bob Parsons has a famous set of 16 Rules. Many CEOs and leaders have a few principles or rules to live by, but Bob Parsons has made his rules into a poster.
I generally like to print out various sayings or lists and hang them around my office, whether at my day job or at home. The 16 Rules poster comes in a few sizes, but I think that it has a nice design as well.
Depending on the day, I find one or another set of rules applicable to my own situations. One of my favorites, however, is:
14. Solve your own problems. You’ll find that by coming up with your own solutions, you’ll develop a competitive edge. Masura Ibuka, the co-founder of SONY, said it best: “You never succeed in technology, business, or anything by following the others.” There’s also an old Asian saying that I remind myself of frequently. It goes like this: “A wise man keeps his own counsel.”
In other words, quit your whining, and do.

He seems to think alot of himself. Before having domains with godaddy I never would have known who he was, but now I just see the website, and the podcast, and the newsletter and now even seeing stuff from his blog posted on your blog 😉
And who is he, sure he’s a successful ceo of a million (billion?) dollar business. But there are alot of those, what makes Bob Parsons so special?

Most of his rules is regular fortune cookie drivel 🙂 After reading about him a little I have a little more respect. He started Parsons technology and they produced (in addition to their tax software and others) Bible software. So a guy can’t be all that bad if he produces bible software. 😉
Bob Parsons is just the CEO of a very public company. Almost everyone has heard of GoDaddy, just like almost everyone has heard of Starbucks or Marriot or Microsoft. People like to hear what the CEO of each of these successful companies has to say.
And I know that a lot of his rules are actually things I’ve read before. What’s nice is that these rules have been collected into a set that apparently can be a poster on your wall. B-)
I don’t think people should follow him blindly, but the idea is that he’s been successful, and perhaps his advice is something to at least pay attention to.
