Thousander Club Update: October 23rd

For this week’s Thousander Club update:

Game Hours: 204.75 / 1000
Game Ideas: 445 / 1000

Target: 819

While the numbers don’t look too productive, I did manage to tackle a number of other responsibilities. I was reviewing a game as well as catching up on my finances.

Also, now that I am back from the Schmooze, I am feeling quite motivated to get a finished product as soon as I can. I hope to spend the next couple of days making a basic plan. I haven’t updated my business plan since March, and I want to make some mini-goals for myself in a few other areas in my life.

  • How was the Schmooze?

  • The Schmooze was good, although I wish I had been able to go on Friday. By the time I got there, a number of people had gone to the Gerald Ford Museum, but when they came back, it was good talking and good eatin’. I found out about a new webcomic and a few new projects from other ASP members.

And I also found out that it is harder to play Total Annihilation with others at a hotel than it should be.

  • I’m thinking about re-starting my thousander club pledge. Only not at the start of next year, probably in the next week or so. Re-adapting my sleep schedule, so I can start on a new schedule. Includes 2 hours of buffer time (1 hour from 6 am to 7 am to wake up, drink coffee, take a shower, read bible, morning exercises, and if I have time ad the end of the hour clean up house a bit, then from 11pm to 12 pm i’ll be winding down, getting ready for bed, with the computer goijng off at 11), 4 hours of game development from 7-11 am (it should mostly be programming but there will be times where i’ll be working out story or drawing as it relates to one of my games), then thousander club from 11 to 3, then i walk from 3-5 (or around there)… then it’s time with dad till 9, then i’ll spend two hours from 9 to 11 on more game development. This means 4 hours a day on the weekdays for the thousander club. I should be able to get near 1000 hours by the end of next year.

This time i’m going to learn math. Different maths as is important for computer graphics, physics, etc. I don’t know how much I can get done in that time, but once time is up, then the next time I think i’ll go for programming. Like learning c++.

If I can become an expert in 10 things in 10 years, i’d be happier than if I can master one thing in 10 years 🙂

  • I have to say that I agree with you, and I will definitely pick one thing to focus on for 1,000 hours next year. This year, I’ve been feeling like I am stretched between too many responsibilities. I don’t want to start over now, but come January I will work on just one aspect. I am still trying to decide if it will be health, programming, computer graphics development, or some other thing.

You’d think that I would have more hours considering all of the various tasks that could count as game development. B-)
