Thousander Club Update: August 24th

For this week’s Thousander Club update:

Game Hours: 576 (previous three years) + 160.75 (current year) = 736.75 / 1000
Game Ideas: 775 (previous three years) + 10 (current year) = 785 / 1000

This past week I mostly worked on my Game Design Concepts design project, and using my new prototyping materials really helps in speeding up the play tests, allowing me to quickly discard mechanics that I find aren’t fun.

Sure! I’ll even dedicate a post to it, but for now, I use the various pieces from my prototype bag to represent the player’s progress in the game. I use circular pieces to represent one player, and the doll pins to represent the other player.

I pretend to be two different players, trying two very different decision paths in the game and seeing if one ends up getting an advantage over the other when I expect them to be at the same level of play. I can quickly decide to change a rule and restart the game to see how the new rule affects the play.
